Best time of the year!!

As I watch the snow fall outside...
This weekend we started putting up our Christmas decorations... getting a jump start because I will be out of town on Thanksgiving. This will be the first year we will have a fire place to hang our stocking by. We love it!!
The snow is falling this morning and as I am watching it fall I am thankful for the wonderful place we live.
Getting my list ready and checking it twice... black Friday is only a few days away :) Not only do I look forward to the wonderful sales, good times with family and friends... but Thanksgiving and black Friday means the Christmas season is underway!!

A Nov. to be Thankful!!

In this wonderful month of November, I would like to take the time to share what I am thankful for... At the end of each post I will put something I am thankful for and why!

I think this will be a wonderful Nov. filled with love, family, friends, and crafting!!
Speaking of crafting... I am so excited about this months special stamp set... Holiday Wishes!! This stamp set works with the new Cricut Collection and is going to make my Christmas cards a breeze!!
And I just love the Stamp of the Month! I will be posting pics of both of these stamp set in use soon!

* I am most thankful for my wonderful husband Jeff!! When I met him at 15... I knew just how wonderful he was, and that I could tell him anything. He was a great friend right from the start! Many years later when we started dating... I knew he was the one!! We married a little over a year later, and after 10 amazing years of marriage... he is still my best friend who understands me (or at least tries to), loves me no matter what, and believes in me... My love for him could never be put into words!*

Make it fit you!

I just love Close to my Heart's Workshops on the Go!! This one is the Dreamin' kit (G1027)... that we did at my Scrapbook retreat earlier this month...
But sometimes the layouts don't always fit the way I like to scrapbook. When I scrapbook a family event, I like to include a group photo and normally a picture of each of my kids. And I just love the flexibility of these kits and that I am able to do just that with a few changes.
In this layout I just moved around some of the stamping and flowers and added two more mats.

I think I will be putting pictures of us as a family going and cutting wood in the forest... or maybe our Thanksgiving this year!?!
No matter what I decide to make these layouts about... they are sure to be a great addition to my books!!

Use It!!

At convention this July I heard a lot about "Use it... don't Collect it!" And it made me think... I do tend to collect my craft supplies!! Yes I am guilty of keeping that paper or embellishment because it might be better for something coming up...
So all the talk about using up what you have and not letting it collect dust got me thinking, I really need to get busy making layouts and such with what I have. This does a few things for me... makes me feel good to use it, makes it ok for me to buy more, and helps me clear out some of my craft room :)

I made these layouts with CTMH paper from last years Autumn/Winter Idea book.

A ghostly decoration...

What is your favorite Halloween decoration?? Is it the pumpkin you carve every year, the spider you hang by the front door, or is it the grave stones you put in your yard??
Mine is a ghostly kids craft I learned from our preschool teacher Mrs. Yost years ago....
Just take your child's foot and trace it on a white paper...

Cut it out and make sure to put your child's name and year on the back...

Draw on some eyes and a mouth....

And hang with some string.
This is my favorite decoration because it is not only an easy project the kids can help with, but it also lets me look back at how small they were :)

Hallow's Past

Today I find myself looking at last years Halloween Fun as I pull out my decorations to get ready for this Halloween. Still not sure what my kids will be this year... but I am sure they will be just as cute as in years past. It's hard to believe Oct. is already in full swing... and Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Lots to do, no time to waste.....

Homemade card for less than 95 cents each.... really?!?
Its true! I am offering a Christmas card workshop where you can make 16 fun Christmas cards for just $15.
There will be two different workshop dates and times: Friday, Nov. 4th @ 7:00 and Sat. Nov. 12th @ 10:00 or 2:00.
You must prepay for this workshop so I can order enough card bases and envelopes by Oct. 25th.
If you are unable to make it to this workshop but want to make these wonderful cards please contact me and I will be more than happy to mail a kit to you!
Each card will have Cardstock, Patterned paper, and a stamped image and/or sentiment.

But of course I had to add a little more... I have added a few embellishments to the cards to show just how fun and easy it is to bling them up. These products will be extra... but I have picked things that are not too much :).
I used: 3D foam tape (z1151), Red Glitz glitter gel (z1484), Liquid applique (z308), Bling Assortment (z1466), Bitty sparkles (z1263), Red sparkles (z1326), Colonial white ribbon (z1126), and Fun flock (z263).

On this Santa card the one on the right is what comes with the workshop price... the one on the left I added Liquid Applique and Fun Flock to Santa.

On this one... right is workshop included, and the left is with the Red Glitz Glitter Gel on the nose and bottom of the card.

Scrapbook Retreats...

This past weekend I attended my team's yearly Stamp Camp.... we had a blast again this year! Sharing stories, laughs, getting a lot done, eating... eating... oh and more eating!! This year we also did the zip line at the cabin... so fun!!
I got 15 double page layouts done, 3 sets of school True Fit Folios done, 50 recipe cards, 3 pumpkin baskets, 2 hot cocoa mugs, 5 mummy suckers,  my 25 days til Christmas My Creations Memory Game box finished, and 15 invites made this year.

It was so nice meeting new ladies on the String of Hearts team and catching up with others!

Getting crafty for the Holidays

As the Holidays start to peek around the corner... I start looking for new ideas. I look everywhere! Youtube, blogs, books... there seems to be so many ideas out there, one could never do them all! I got this cute Mummy pillow box idea from a youtube video... love it! And with CTMH's Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge, it could not have been easier!

Faster, Simpler, Easier!!

I can tell you just how amazing these books are! After scrapbooking for 10 years I finally got my first CTMH How to Book. I'll never go back again!! They make my scrapbook time productive. All I do is decide what paper I want to use, what pictures I want to scrapbook and then I get out my books. In the books I find a layout design that fits the number of pictures I want to use. Then I just cut my papers as directed and put it all together... its that easy! Lastly I put on my embellishments... this helps me make it my own :)
After using the books to help me get my scrapbooking done, I decided to try out the card books... Wow!
Just as wonderful! I can get my cards done so much faster and they look great!
If you are short on time... but not projects, check out these How to Books from Close to my Heart. You'll be glad you did!

So many projects.... just one paper pack!

With Halloween just around the corner I have been playing and having fun with Close to my Hearts New Halloween themed products... oh and the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge!!
With the Mischief Level 2 paper pack (x7144b), a few stamps, and the Midnight Felt Shapes (z1462)... I was able to make all these wonderful projects, AND MORE!

After making my Spooky Banner for my upcoming workshop, I got started on the 2 double page layouts, a few cards and some fun treat holders. I still have some paper left so I am working on a gift bag or two, some cute decorations for the house, and maybe a gift for my kids teachers :)
